Launch of Cranleigh C of E Primary School

From September 2008, Cranleigh C of E Primary School was opened.  We welcome both the school and their new headteacher, Jane Byford, to the Confederation.  The new school is a merger of Cranleigh Infant School and St Nicolas C of E Junior School and  brings the total of schools within the Confederation to 9.

Internet Safety Workshops for Children and Parents

700 pupils from years 2, 4, 5 and 6 attended sessions provided by Childnet International (www.childnet.com) to learn how to use the SMART rules to stay safe on the internet.

Two parent sessions were also held to increase awareness of how children and young people use the internet and to show how parents can help their children to use the internet safely.  These were very well received by all those who were able to attend with very positive feedback and a clear commitment to getting more involved with the way that their children use the internet.

If you were unable to attend please access the Childnet International KNOW IT ALL FOR PARENTS site.

This will provide you with more information and links to help you and your children on the internet.

In addition we asked parents about other areas that they would like to have information or a workshop on and these included 'Peer Pressure', 'Bullying' and 'Drugs and Alcohol Awareness'.  We are also investigating areas of family learning such as cookery and sports activities and adult learning sessions such as ICT refresher courses and Maths GCSE.  Please contact us if you are interested in any of the above or if you have any further ideas.   We would always welcome your comments and ideas.

Extended Services Consultation of Parents and Pupils

Thank you to everyone who completed a questionnaire about the services you currently use and ideas for further services and activities.  We received questionnaires from 350 families and we are currently analysing the information that you have given us.  More details will be available on the website as the information becomes available.

Cranleigh Initiative Community Day - April 24th 2008

The Confederation Schools were delighted to take part in the Cranleigh Community Day on 24th April in the village hall with a whole range of local groups including the councils, volunteer groups, the health centre, local churches, policing, sport and youth work to name a few.  The Confederation stand displayed information about Extended Services provision with slideshow photos and information from all the schools within the confederation.  Thank you to everyone who visited the stand and to the headteachers and governors who helped out on the day - especially our 'mini headteachers' from Park Mead School pictured below.
