iNTERNET SAFETY WORKSHOPS - JUNE 2009

Our programme of internet safety workshops with Childnet International were extended this year to pupils from years 2, 4 and 8 across the Confederation Schools.  The workshops are designed to show the pupils what a great place the internet can be whilst also showing them how to stay safe and behave responsibility with all the new technology that they encounter every day.

Over the last year, pupils from years 2 - 8 have attended an internet safety workshop with Childnet International, a non-profit organisation working with others to “help make the Internet a great and safe place for children”.

Morning and Evening workshops were also held for parents which were highly informative. The 'Know It All for Parents' workshop highlights the gap that exists between children’s real experience online and adult awareness of these experiences. The presentation contains information about positive ways young people are using different technologies, what the risks are to users and it outlines practical advice in avoiding or minimising risks when using online and mobile technologies.
