The Cranfold Artists' Collective

Chair: Sharon Duggan

The Cranfold Artists’ Collective was launched in October 2006.  Its membership comprises artists of all disciplines, so we have working musicians, visual and ceramic artists, jewellers, writers, designers, dancers etc.  A number of us also teach our discipline and we all live and work within the local community.

The Collective is interested in both going into schools to talk about working as an artist and also in running workshops etc.  We are also interested in multi-disciplinary arts projects with schools.

The Sustainable Living Project

Sharon Duggan

01483 279803

info@sharonduggan.co.uk

This is a voluntary project funded by Waverley Borough Council and is being monitored by The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF-UK).  I am working with nine volunteer families from Cranleigh and the surrounding villages to help and support them in moving towards a more sustainable lifestyle.  The project has so far involved learning more about climate change, learning how to make home-made toiletries and household cleaners, finding out more about the food industry, organic gardening etc and is largely based on the example of my own lifestyle which has been featured by Waverley Borough Council and is also currently the subject of a feature of two radio programmes on ethical living by County Sound Radio.  I also bring in experts eg. scientists, wildlife rangers where appropriate.  The project will probably continue for at least another year and will then, hopefully be replicated in other areas.

I would be happy to come into schools and talk about sustainable living and my lifestyle and answer any questions children might have about an ethical way of life.

The Lychgate Trust run a Motor Club, called GASP, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings for teenagers aged 13 - 18, 7.00 - 9.00pm for both boys and girls.  They do an 8 week basic mechanics course and then go on to project vehicles.  They had just finished 4 off road karts and are now in the process of building 5 track karts. The members then have the opportunity of driving on a regular basis the vehicles built.
